Bow

Before stepping onto the mat before class and stepping off at the end of class you must bow in. Face the center of the mat with your feet together, hands by your side and bow.

This shows respect for your academy.

Shake Hands

When you first get onto the mat you shake the hands of all your teammates that are already on the mat. Incoming teammates will come and shake yours.

This shows respect for your team and helps you get to know everybody.

Running late?

If you are running late for class, before stepping on the mat you wait at the edge for the Instructor to call you in. You then bow in. Shake the instructors hand and then shake the hand of any other black belt on the mat.
