A Weekend of Growth, Dedication, and Championship Spirit at Danny Savery Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy
This past weekend was a powerful reminder of what Danny Savery Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy represents: dedication, courage, teamwork, and the willingness to keep moving forward regardless of the outcome.
From an outstanding Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Master Class at our Somerset headquarters to Connor Holt’s hard-fought performance inside the Cage Titans cage, our students and coaches demonstrated what it means to train with purpose and represent one team.
A Phenomenal Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Master Class
We want to extend a sincere thank-you to Coach Rob Padeiro and Coach Dave Parker for delivering an exceptional Master Class this past Saturday at our Somerset, Massachusetts academy.
The turnout was phenomenal, and the energy on the mats reflected the dedication of everyone who attended. Students had the opportunity to learn valuable wrestling concepts for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, leg-lock techniques, positional details, and strategies that can immediately improve their overall grappling game.
Thank you to every student who attended, participated, asked questions, trained hard, and supported the event. Master Classes like this provide an opportunity to step outside of your regular routine, study new techniques, and learn from experienced instructors who have dedicated years to developing their skills.
Improvement does not happen by accident. It happens when you consistently show up, remain open to learning, and challenge yourself to become better than you were yesterday.
Connor Holt Shows Tremendous Heart at Cage Titans
Later that day, Connor Holt represented Danny Savery Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy at Cage Titans with tremendous heart, skill, composure, and fighting spirit.
Connor looked outstanding in the opening round. He controlled the action, demonstrated excellent grappling technique, and came extremely close to securing a rear-naked choke finish. The round-ending buzzer prevented him from fully capitalizing on the position, but his performance showed the effectiveness of his preparation and the level of his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts skills.
The second and third rounds were extremely competitive and hard-fought. Connor and his opponent continued to push the pace and delivered the type of performance worthy of Fight of the Night consideration.
Connor ultimately came up just short in a close decision loss, but the result does not take away from the performance he delivered. He looked composed, prepared, dangerous, and capable throughout the fight. We could not be prouder of the way he competed and represented himself, his coaches, his teammates, and Danny Savery Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy.
A martial artist is not defined only by victories. A martial artist is defined by preparation, effort, character, discipline, and the courage to test themselves when the pressure is at its highest.
Connor demonstrated every one of those qualities.
Thank You to Connor’s Coaches and Training Partners
No fighter enters the cage alone.
We want to thank all of the coaches and students who helped Connor prepare for this fight. Every training round, coaching session, technical adjustment, conditioning workout, and word of encouragement contributed to his performance.
A strong martial arts team is built through people who are willing to invest in one another. Connor’s performance was a reflection of his personal dedication and the support of the teammates and coaches who stood beside him throughout his training camp.
A special shout-out goes to Connor for his commitment to training, his professionalism, and the way he represented our academy. We know he will take everything learned from this experience and return even stronger.
More Than Martial Arts Training
Whether you are interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, GI BJJ, No-GI grappling, kickboxing, Muay Thai, mixed martial arts, self-defense, competition training, fitness, or youth martial arts, there is a place for you on our team.
You do not need previous experience to begin. You do not need to already be in shape. You only need the willingness to walk through the door and take the first step.
At Danny Savery Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy, we offer martial arts programs for children, teenagers, and adults at our academies in:
-
Somerset, Massachusetts
-
Fairhaven, Massachusetts
-
Bristol, Rhode Island
Students can train at all three of our locations. We are not a franchise. We are one team built on pride, dedication, and tradition.
Our programs serve individuals and families throughout Somerset, Fall River, Swansea, Rehoboth, Dighton, Freetown, Westport, Dartmouth, New Bedford, Fairhaven, Acushnet, Mattapoisett, Marion, Bristol, Warren, Tiverton, Portsmouth, Seekonk, East Providence, Providence, and surrounding communities.
Some students begin martial arts because they want to compete. Others want to improve their fitness, learn practical self-defense, build confidence, relieve stress, or become part of a positive community.
Whatever your reason may be, your journey begins the same way: by showing up.
Begin Your Martial Arts Journey Today
This weekend showed us two important sides of martial arts.
The Master Class demonstrated the importance of remaining a student and continuing to learn. Connor’s Cage Titans fight demonstrated the courage required to put those lessons to the test.
Both experiences were built through preparation, discipline, and dedication.
You may not be preparing to compete inside a cage, but you are capable of becoming stronger, more confident, more disciplined, and more prepared than you are today.
